So I got a new radiator for my 1954 NAA. Today, I worked on getting the sheet metal off. Nightmare! There are several bolts and screws that go into captive nuts. With few exceptions, the captive nuts rotate in their cages when I turn the screws. Yes, I used PB Blaster. I keep finding more screws and nuts to remove, all of which are hopelessly corroded. Do people use small angle grinders to go in and just grind things off, or am I missing some trick?

I need the tractor by spring for mowing. I'd appreciate any advice.
I do hope you all had a happy Thanksgiving.

yup, the square nuts rotate sometimes.

If you are lucky you can grip the cage and all with a visegrip and crush it enough to hold to unscrew. Sometimes you loose the nut and the cage.

If you do get them out, use a tap to chase all nuts and use new bolts.

Also.. keep in mind you don't have to take them ALL out. just seperate the nose from one side of the tin, then you can spread it. you will have to loosen the rear sides of the tin a bit.. but you can do it without completely undressing her.
