1963?
Hi, I've been working on cleaning up the old Ford. trying to figure out what it is.
Model # 403136 4= 172ci gas / 0 = industrial 31= LCG 36 = ??? Not sure? The
tranny is 3 speed with high / low?
Also I'm not sure of the year serial# <> 174406 <> 1963??
Last thing it is red and yellow most I see are blue and white any chance
someone has the correct paint codes for this old boy?
Thank you,
Tony

Hi, I only have a few pictures off my phone. Don't know if you can see much. It also has power steering.
I have the snow plow and flail mower also. Not sure if the pictures will show up? I'll try again later when I have
time.

We had a 2000 LCG, back in the early to mid 70's where I worked, set up with a Triumph, 5' side mount sickle bar, for mowing roadsides. They had it set out as far as possible, and it was definitely a steep bank machine.

Not sure about the main transmission, but thinking it was a 4 spd. What I do know, it had an aux. O.D. transmission, I'll assume it was a Sherman, and would scoot along around 25-30 mph. on those 24" tires.

Interesting tractor. Hopefully someone more knowledgeable than me can figure out what you have. But it is possible that you have a tractor that has parts from more than 1 different model. It wasnt uncommon back then and alot of parts were interchangeable from different models.

Any chance you can post a picture of the model number and serial number so we can verify?

I am gonna guess it is a 1962 model industrial tractor. They where the first tractors of the thousand series (2000,4000). And The color is correct if thats what it is. They were red and yellow. But a few things that throw me, The last 36 on the model number. Not sure what the 6 means, I cannot find any reference to it anywhere, but the 3 indicates 4-speed trans w/hydraulics and PTO. Yet you say it is only a 3 speed trans.

I could be wrong, but I thought the 9n/2n were the last to have a 3-speed. Everything after that was 4-speed or 5-speed or SOS. So either I am wrong, or you are wrong about the 3-speed, or (if possible) someone put a 9n/2n trans in there.

The last thing that throws me is the adjustable front axle. I thought all the industrial tractors had a fixed width front. So either I am wrong again, or the axle is from a different model.

Like I said, The tractors from the 50's and 60's had alot of parts in common among different models

I need to pick up a sickle bar type attachment. Yes this machine is fast ! I'm going to steam clean it then a quick scuff and paint. Want to keep it red & yellow ish. Still 6v want to change it to 12v. It had duel wheels
but the outside wheels rotted pretty bad. I'd love to find the big floatation rear tires and rims but they must be very expensive?

clearly not a 9n/2n trans as they incorporate the steering box. the 3 cyl thousand series also had a 3spd box, but was a twin stick with high low, making it 6spds.

the 3spd issue is why i asked him to post a pic. hard to id a tractor for somebody when they don't know how many gears it has and guess wrong. ;)

i would go with a 62 as year as well

and that is deffinately a 4spd tranny, not 3.

also, that last 6, is it really a 6 or a letter. there are suffix that are different options.

I disasembled this for paint then the house burnt down and now I'm back to it agian. I read somewhere the first 2000 were red and yellow.
I want to find the correct yellow I think the red paint should be EZ emough to find? Thanks again Tony
