Ford 901 brush hog

I just picked up a late 50's ford 901 22-60 brush hog for $200. It is actually in really nice shape, has a slip clutch set up, but has no stump jumper, and very thin blades. Can I add a stump jumper and switch to a heavier blade set up? The guy said it had beefier blades years ago on it? Wasn't sure if anyone knew what would work, or if they may have done this already.

You say that it has no stump jumper currently on it, so I guess it only has a flat bar attached to the output shaft on the gear box. They are some after market stump jumpers that can be welded to the flat bar if that is what you got. If you want to replace the flat bar with a complete stump jumper you need to find out more about the gear box on the unit and how many splines are on the gearbox output shaft. If you just weld a stump jumper to your flat bar blade carrier you will need to find out more about the size of shoulder on the blade bolts to begin looking at different blades.

Yep. Basically a upside down T. Must be a flat blade carrier. He said he bent the original years ago, and that is when he put this one on and it used thinner style blades. Defiantly want a stump jumper at least for this unit. Has the original gearbox also. Guy said his father bought this unit brand new, and it has been on this farm until I bought it. I haven't been able to find anyone local who can find parts let alone upgrades for this unit.

I have a 901. No stump jumper. There were parts available for it at the New Holland Dealer. Bought a new lower seal and bushings for the blade bolts. I know the blades were available. Not sure about the carrier the blades bolted to.
