Ford 8N three point questions

The three point on my '47 8N does not want to raise all the time. If I play around with the lever, it will eventually come up.

Someone once mentioned to me that there is a pin inside the housing that is probably worn. Anyone give a better explanation?

Itr's warmed up 15 degrees today. All the way up to 13 degrees

Get yourself an IT book/manual for it and check out what the R&R says about what is going on inside the rear end. Being a bit familiar with the workings, will make it easier to figure out what you are looking for when getting inside.

If that is your plan. But find a warmer spot to work on it. That oil gets as cold as the temp.

while it could have a worn cam pin.. that is a full time problem and usually limits lift height.. .. not make it function some days and not others. that's a sign of a dirty sump and sticky control valve.

remove the inspection cover with the dipstick and run the 3pt lever up and down and watcht he rod from the top cover to the slot int he control valve on the pump.. it may stick.. grit, etc...

and DO get the I&T fo4 manual

r&r of the top cover and pump is not difficult.. 9hrs work top to bottom.. plus alot of oily mess and 5g of new oil and some cleaning supplies and basic hand tools..

I had the same problem with mine... i have not touched in probably a year... but let me know if you find something out

it's easy to fix. you ought to pop yours open.. once you find out how easy and cheap the fix is you will ask yourself why you waited a year to fix it..

Before it stopes working it leaked now it goes up and down when it wants to.
