Ford 860 Spin on Oil Filter

I am searching for the correct spin on oil filter for my 860 gas tractor. The PO had a filter that covered the entire cartridge (?) area. My local NAPA sold me a 1515 Gold . It mounted as shown in picture.

However the available diameter seems to be much larger.

The local New Holland dealer shows 2 filters listed as OEM the larger diameter filter # is 86546606. It is 4 1/4" dia x 4' tall.

What is the correct filter? :? :?

86546614 would be correct. There are thousands of Fords running NAPA 1515s. 86546606 from memory is a 4x4 Power Reversing transmission filter with no engine oil applications that I am aware of. NAPA crosses NH 86546614 to NAPA 1452 which is similar to the 1515.

the NAPA 1452 is a filter sized 3.66" OD x 5.17" height. All three filters are different sizes. Does it make a difference? As long as the filter seals shouldn't it work assuming it has the bypass and anti drain valves.
The more I Google oil filters, the more I become confused as to why the size difference and cost. Most descriptions don't explain much more than the external dimensions.

The N1452 is closest to the N1515. The New Holland is short & squatty.

It just seems odd( like wrong) to use 1515 or 1452 and have so much metal showing. (left over) .

You can make it as easy or as complex as you wish. New Holland lists both 86546606 and 86546614 for 134 and 172 cubic inch gas and Diesel engines using a spin on filter with or without a conversion. In my 20+ years at New Holland dealerships 86546614 has been the overwhelming filter of choice among buyers of OEM filters. NAPA crosses 86546614 to its 1452 filter. Literally thousands of Ford tractors wear the 1515.
