I'm looking for confirmation before I jump in and split the tractor. I ran the bush hog for about an hour a couple days ago, when I got back to the house oil was dripping out of the weep hole in the bottom transmission inspection plate with the cotter pin in it. I know that is what it is there for and have seen the occasional drip before, but this was a steady drip. I pulled the plate and everything inside is coated with hyd/gear oil. I don't see the hydraulic lines spraying, so my though is input shaft seals are bad. My only concern is that there is a coating of oil on everything in the housing I would have expected a seal leak to run down the front of the transmission and out. Any insight would be appreciated. Thank you.

leaks int he dry area of the bellhousing should be input shaft seal or rear main. a leaky rear main can sure SLING oil.

if you thought it was something spraying, lift thee 3pt with a load, shut engine off and peer in to the cavity.

I am thinking it is the input shaft seal. There is nothing spraying in there. I will split it in the next week or two and find out for sure.

After splitting the tractor, I found that the bolts holding the PTO end cap were too long and bottoming out before it was tight. Replaced the gasket and put in shorter bolts and that fixed it.
