New member here, bear with me. I'd like to feel I'm very mechanically inclined. I've owned several tractors, trucks, and so forth in my day....so here's my problem: The clutch adjustment from pedal to arm is a very narrow range.
I have a Ford 860. Clutch works fine. My issue is...I'm rather long legged, and the clutch pedal to me is far, far too high for comfortable use. I nearly have to raise my left hip up to get my foot on the pedal.
I realize the adjustment clevis at the pedal rod/clutch arm is two-holed for a reason..that being, one hole is for using the " 2 stage clutch"...one is for not.
The problem is...if I adjust the clevis in or out, or try swapping connection holes..of course I can't stop the PTO. In other words..to achieve the proper " throw" on the clutch arm, the pedal has to be right on the floorboard. Any adjustments I try dont' achieve the proper throw. Simply put, I really can't lower the pedal using the adjustment clevis to a comfortable position and still maintain shut off of the PTO . Sure, I can stop the tranny, but not the PTO.
The adjustment bolt is also positioned properly on the clutch arm.
My last resort is removing the clutch pedal and heating with a torch to achieve what I need, but I'd rather not do that.
Any suggestions ?
