1956 ford 801 powermaster
I have a 1956 Ford 801 Powermaster with factory power steering. I dont use the tractor that much and over the years have repaired the power steering parts hoses, cylinders, used pump etc.
I have just decided to take all the power steering off the tractor. If I do this how will it act. Will I have to replace the steering box? This is my main concern.
Would appreciate and help or advice. Thanks

1, if you have a 1956, you don't have an 801

Yr models 55-57 were 00 series. Ie 800 ( add middle digit to series number to get model Id, for instance an 800 with a 4 SPD trans is an 840 )

Year models 58-62 were 01

Now, on ag models, the steering box with dual sectors and valve block go as an assembly with the pump, lines, and cylinkers, and if technical, then the drag links and radius rods.

If you want to go to non PS, you should swap in a manual box.

Do you not like the PS?

Factory PS in 1956? It wasn't added until 1957 Mid production run. As soundguy said change to manual box. Or take the belt off and mussel it out. Got to love that strongarm steering, NOT. I'd be fixing that PS.
