ford 7000 over charging battery

The alt on my ford 7000 is over charging the battery(blowing the covers off) , I suspect that the regulator is bad. I have tried to get a new one but can,t find one anywhere,out of stock or not avaliable in canada,anyone know what i could do,I can get one from the us but the shipping is as much as the part
Another thought is replacing the alternator with a built in regulator, anyone know what alternator would workin my tractor,Thanks
