Did you get the injectors tested? What was wrong with the old injection pump?

I "used to" say, the CAV DPA was fool proof to put on.. NOT anymore..
U guys know that dowel that sticks out of the gear.. that u align the cut tooth in the pump drive with..??
Well, I had 1 customer who just didn't get it.. & bolted his pump back in, any which way he could.. {the holes line up for the bolts}
He bolted the pump up & actually pressed the dowel pin thru the other side of the gear.!!! & couldn't get the engine started..
UNTIL.. he took a picture of the gear & sent it to me.. The dowel pin was PUSHED CLEAN THRU the other side.. I couldn't believe it..

I take it YOURS is a SIMMS in-line pump??
They aren't the easiest to put back on correctly..
There is a timing line on the drive hub.. that lines up w/ a boss on the pump face, that has a timing line on it also.
The marks are about 12-1:00 looking at the pump drive..
I think u can see them thru a hole in the gear..
IF your not sure what cylinder your on in the pump.. u can remove the side cover & rotate the drive IN THE CORRECT engine rotation..
until #1 starts to come up..
Did u get the injectors done at the same time.?? IF NOT, u only did half the job..
U SHOULD START at the injectors.!!! {least expensive} & move on to the pump..

U can check to see if u have a bad injector causing the smoke..
Get it running & smaking & 1x1 loosen a nut AT THE INJECTOR & look at the exhaust..
NO CHANGE.?? Tighten the line up & move to the next one..
IF no change on ANY of the loosened lines.. u might have an engine problem.. OR a timing problem..

i used the tractor all summer baling hay then i changed the fuel filter on it and got it running but i noticed it was skipping a little and a litttle bit lazy on response but i figured maybe it had some air that needed to be worked out. the next day i went to start it and it woulnt even cough fart smoke so tried bleeding the sytem again but no fuel up to the injectors thats when i decided to change the pump and here i am. its acav style pump all new filters i did the injector test and it does run more like crap on every injector i test so ibelive the injectors are good

I would check to make sure your fuel lift pump is good. A bad fuel lift pump can starve an injection pump causing issues. Injection pumps cannot suck fuel very well, it has to be fed to them. If that does not cure the problem then take your injections to have them tested. SC pump guy will have some good insight so it might be worth seeing what he says.

Do u have the 3 pc filter set up.?? w/ a long screw thru the center.??
The upper oring MUST go UP INSIDE the filterhead.. IF u put it ON the filter, it WILL choke off the fuel..
