I "used to" say, the CAV DPA was fool proof to put on.. NOT anymore..
U guys know that dowel that sticks out of the gear.. that u align the cut tooth in the pump drive with..??
Well, I had 1 customer who just didn't get it.. & bolted his pump back in, any which way he could.. {the holes line up for the bolts}
He bolted the pump up & actually pressed the dowel pin thru the other side of the gear.!!! & couldn't get the engine started..
UNTIL.. he took a picture of the gear & sent it to me.. The dowel pin was PUSHED CLEAN THRU the other side.. I couldn't believe it..
I take it YOURS is a SIMMS in-line pump??
They aren't the easiest to put back on correctly..
There is a timing line on the drive hub.. that lines up w/ a boss on the pump face, that has a timing line on it also.
The marks are about 12-1:00 looking at the pump drive..
I think u can see them thru a hole in the gear..
IF your not sure what cylinder your on in the pump.. u can remove the side cover & rotate the drive IN THE CORRECT engine rotation..
until #1 starts to come up..
Did u get the injectors done at the same time.?? IF NOT, u only did half the job..
U SHOULD START at the injectors.!!! {least expensive} & move on to the pump..
