Ford 655D
I have a 1994 Ford 655D that I was pushing brush with and I flipped the lever for reverse and then the tractor would not go backwards or forward. The fluid levels are full. I would appreciate help on what to try first.

Welcome to TBN! I think I'd crawl under the tractor and check for loose wires that may have been caught by brush. The shuttle shift is done by electro-clutches, I believe. How about your hydraulics? Do they still have pressure and work normally?

Yes all the hydraulics work normal.

My TLB (a later NH LB75B) has a fwd-neutral-reverse solenoid that engages clutches. Have you checked fuses also? The solenoid is on top of the transmission, but has two pigtails going to connectors. I'd put your shuttle in fwd or reverse and see if the engine will start. When my shuttle is out of neutral, the engine won't start. That test would tell you if the shuttle switch and logic is working normally.

this machine should have pretty much the same electrical system for the trans as you machine has.

now to the op there is a box under the steering column that has a bunch off wires coming out of it (it is like a brain on a old ford truck) that controls all of this the box could be out i changed one a few months ago on a 555d

Where are the fuses located on it? I will try to see if it cranks with the selector in forward tomorrow. Thanks.

That tells me something electrical is loose. It's not supposed to do that. I think you have a broken wire somewhere, maybe power to the switch. I don't think your problem is mechanical, but rather it's electrical.

I found 2 broken wires going to the loader valve and I have twisted them together to see if it would make it work and it did not. The only fuses I have found on the tractor are against the right fender looking from the rear. All these fuses seem ok. I have looked all on the firewall under the steering column and have not located any fuses there. Are there fuses somewhere else. Thanks so much for your help.
