My tractors lift would leak down in about 5 min when shut off and when running would drop about 2" and bounce back up. the pump seems to be in good working order. I have recently rebuilt the cylinder in my 1959 641. the piston oring and backup ring were in poor shape. It worked great and would hold rock rake up for a week while sitting. I put about 2 hours on it after rebuild and then it started lifting slow and will leak down overnight now.
It had Mystic JT-5 in it before the rebuild. I used different hydraulic/transmission fluid when I rebuilt it and changed the fluid.
I looked in the side cover today and i have a stream of fluid running out of the front side of the unloading valve about the size of 2 pencil leads when the lift is all the way up and small drips when it is moving up. Nothing out of the piston. It runs down and into the the reservoir. It is creating fine air bubbles when it hits there. Is this normal? Could this be enough air to get in the pump.
I am also getting air in the pump which is a piston pump. I can bleed the air out from the plug on top front of the pump. This changes nothing the lift stills rises slow. There were no pump issues before the cylinder was rebuilt. Has anyone had this issue?
