Hi all, been snooping for a long time but this is my first post. Tried searching and haven't been able to come up with an answer so hopefully I didn't overlook something simple.
I have a 1955 Ford 640 with a square vane style hydraulic pump and a cast manifold. I've been researching switching to a piston pump (down the road when this one goes belly-up) and from what I've read this requires switching the manifold. Looking at some pictures however it looks like some piston (round) pumps are connected to a cast manifold like mine and some are connected to one that just looks like two hard lines running side by side, but that style has a different connection going into the tractor.
My question is are there piston style pumps that connect directly to the cast manifold that I have, or is there a different cast manifold needed for a piston pump as it doesn't appear that the "hard line" type manifold would bolt to my tractor.
If I've kept your attention this far has anyone tried the adapter made by windy ridge farm to use a new gear pump? Would that even work with the type of manifold I have?
Thanks for any replies, there's a lot of knowledge on this forum.
