I'm working on renewing the bushings/bearings on the front of my 1955 Ford 640 but I have a question before I put it all back together. I've ordered a new bushing from Steiner tractor (ABC379) and had to order a threaded pivot pin (NCA3127A) from a different vendor as Steiner doesn't have the threaded version.
I haven't pressed the bushing in yet but sliding the new pin through the new bushing there is a bit of play, it can wobble back and fourth some, I would have thought it would fit fairly tight. Do I have wrong parts or are the tolerances on these older tractors just not that tight?
Also wondering is there is a source for the "split ring" that fits just under the ears of the threaded pivot pin, mine was partially destroyed taking the thing apart. The manual references it but also says later models did not have it, so is it even needed?
Thanks JL86
