Check the level, but if it’s anything like my old Ford, it’s dirty inside. My internal filters are extremely dirty and when it gets cold everything slows WAYYYYY down. Sometimes it takes 5 minutes for the lift to pick up. Seems like it would be easy enough to just change the filer, but Ford engineers back then must have forgot about that little detail because it’s not replaceable, at least not easily. I don’t know anything about the filter on the 640, but I’d look into changing the fluid, and try to find a way to clean the filter if it’s not replaceable. If you can’t access it, perhaps pour some diesel in to your hydraulic fluid and run for 10-15 minutes before draining it out. If the tractor only holds 2.5 gallons, it probably won’t take much, maybe ¼ gallon? Hopefully someone more knowledgeable will come along and make a suggestion.
