I went to the Kioti dealership to pickup the NX4510 (had an intermittent starting issue - safety controller replaced under warranty) with the 2019 Ford F-350 and the big PJ trailer. A couple of miles from the dealership I caught a whiff of diesel and thought I must have gotten some on me when I filled up about 30 minutes earlier. I pulled in to the loading area and when I got out of the truck the running board and left side of the trailer were coated in diesel and it was running out of from underneath. I opened the hood and "diesel steam" billowed out and the motor and everything else there was covered. I am lucky that it did not light off since it was almost 100 degrees out and the engine was pretty warm. I let it cool off for an hour and turned the key back on and the underhood diesel filter had cracked and was spraying out diesel and lots of it. Went in the parts department and one of the parts guys mom's newish Ford truck had burned up in the dealership parking lot and a guy there buying a deer blind said that it had happened to his truck (luckily no fire like mine) too as well as a couple of ambulances where he worked. He said that they switched to aftermarket ones and had not had any more problems. I looked online and it seems to be a more common failure than is right. My filter had about 17K miles on it (Ford says to change them every 20K miles) and was their Mototcraft brand. I had checked the oil in the truck a couple of days ago and nothing in the bay seemed wet or oily, so it was a fairly sudden failure. If you are driving a Ford (seems to be 17 and up) with the 6.7 diesel keep an eye on it - I am going to watch mine to Wix and carry a spare.
