Last week a friend and I bought a 1979 Ford 550 industrial backhoe. It is to be used 3 or 4 times a year at the deer ranch in Texas.
The backhoe 'bucket curl' and 'boom up' aren't working properly. The previous owner said he loaned it to someone about a year ago, and he believes they replaced some hoses and did not connect them back correctly.
It seems that when I pull the 2 center levers at the same time, the boom will lift. I assume that the boom should lift when pulling only one lever, but it won't. I'm not familiar with backhoes operated with 4 levers. I'm only familiar with 2 levers.
Could some of the hoses be connected wrong? Where should I look? Is there anything else that I should look for?
