I have a Ford 5030 and it is leaking hydrauilc fluid like crazy out of the vent. This tractor has a vent up by the gearshifts that vents out of the transmission. When I am using it the fluid pours out of the vent, but when it is running and not moving it want come out. I here no unusal noises or anything from the tractor. I am wondering if the vent has failed me and I need a new one. Can anyone please help me and let me know if they have had this problem or know how to fix it. Thanks in advance for your help!!

There is probably a restriction on the return side of the pump. Make sure the filter and screen (if it has one) is clean.

when its in gear the gear is throwing the oil up at the breather. New Holland replaced the vent plug with a solid plug and drilled a hole further back on the shift top over the rib in the transmission so that the gears could not throw the oil.See your local CNH dealer about the service bulletin from sometimes in the late 90's. Been there done that!!!!!
