Sickle Bar Ford 501 sickle mower ?

We have a Ford 501 sickle mower and are having some trouble getting the Pittman Arm back on. I don't know what it is called...but it's the metal clamp thing that hooks on to the ball that's on the bar. What the heck is that thing called??? The metal clamp thing hooks on to the wooden Pittman arm is bent and we need to get a new one. I try Googleing (is that a word??

) but couldn't find anything. Any help will be greatly appricated.

I'm not familier with the ford but my IH also has a ball on the sections and a pitman arm.

The pieces that clamped to the sections were called pitman straps and I found replacements at Sickle Service - Home Page. Mine were PN 456-070 and 456-071.

I don't see any Ford specific straps but they were very helpful on the phone.

I have a International 230 sickle mower and we just had to replace that part you are referring to. They called it the "head" on the parts list. I found it easier to reconnect the pitman arm if you had someone or used your hyd. to tilt the far end of the mower up which made it a little easier to hook arm back up. Might be different on your mower though.
