Hello TBN,

The 3 pt on my Ford 5000 maxes out at around 30" in height measured at the center of the rear link ball from the floor. Lowest measurement is around 6.5" when the lever is lowered to the stop. It seems like it should have a fair bit more travel upwards to me.

Lift link length and tire sizes make your measurement meaningless. Grab the draft link when the hitch is fully raised, no implement connected and tractor shut off. If you can raise it more than about two inches after taking all the slack out of the pins and joints, you have internal linkage problems that can be addressed. Fully lowered the rockshaft is close to horizontal. The range of motion of the rockshaft is somewhat less than 90 degrees.

Rear tires are 16.9x30, I'd hoped that wouldn't be a problem.

I'll check the slack either after i get home or in the morning.

I'm not sure on the Ford 5000, but on tractors I have worked with there is relationship between lift arm travel and the draft control lever. If the draft lever is not adjusted correctly, the range of travel of the lift arms will be affected. Just a thought.

Too cold to start it tonight. Heater is plugged in and check it out in the morning.

Lifting the linkage by hand brings the height up to 35.5" at center ball.

There’s pretty good chance that in all that the rockshaft only rotated a few degrees. There’s probably not much to be gained by anything other than shortening the lift links.

Draft control was it. Selector lever was fully up, flipped it down into position/draft settings and got the full lift height.
