Ford 4x4 1900 front axle lube cap.

I have a manual ordered for my tractor, but just rebuilt front wheel gear drive on my 1900 4x4, does anyone know how much lube and what kind is used in the front axle hub gear box, it has fill plug and drain plug but not a level plug. Thanks for any info.

Spec from FO-44 shop manual. for 1900
I think this is the gear box you are refering to.

front Axle reduction case (each) .22 L (.23 US Quart) more capacities
Front Axle differential case 2.4 L (2.5 US Quart)
Coolins system capacity, 6.8 L (7.2 US Quarts)
Crankcase* 5.5 L (5.8 US Quart) with filter change, 1700 only={4x4 .5 L or .53 qt less}
Fuel tank, 29 L or 7.6 US Gallon
Transmision, rear axle & hydrolic system: 24L (25.4 US Quart)

Don't forget to greese the hubs.

HI Joe, I just re-read your post and realized I didn't post the type of gear lubricant. The following information from my owners manual;

Checking oil level in final reduction gear case every 50 hours. Remove fill plug, oil should be level with the bottom of the fill plug. Change oil every 300 hours. Replenish with high quality, extreme pressure gear lubricant with an anti foam additive. Read the following chart for recommended viscosity grades: Temp: Under 86F or (30c) Visc SAE 80
Temp: Over 86F or (30c) Visc SAE 90 or 140

Use same for the front axle diff case. Need more info? Will be happy to help.
It would have been easier on capacities if I would have told you to: Capacity: Pour in in until it runs back out. }

thanks again, I sure had a time getting the universal joint lined up with outter axle. but rebuilt both sides. Thanks again for the info. Joe
