FORD 4619 pto won't shut off

Is this a big deal to fix or could it be something simple? any help would be greatly appreciated.

Well I don't know what happened there. It's a Ford 4630. dont know where the 4619 came from!

At a minimum, the PTO brake pad is worn out. Or the PTO discs are warped and driving with no hydraulic pressure applied, in which case the brake pad is also worn out, or will be shortly. Less likely is a valving or linkage problem. In any event, splitting the rear axle center section from the transmission housing is necessary.

How big of a deal is that for an amateur? or is it best to take it to a repair shop?

Amateurs come with all levels of interest, aptitude, desire and common sense. I can tell you what is required to do the job, but I have no idea whether you are capable. It's not a complex job, but it must be done carefully and correctly.

Get the service manual for your tractor before you tear into a repair effort. Then you can scope out the job and decide how you want to proceed.

Unless you want to learn tractor repair. have a lot of spare time to teach yourself that skill, then have at it. On the other hand, if you need that tractor for everyday use, better to have it done by a good repair shop.

Splitting the tractor is not that difficult. Getting the two sections aligned and back together again can be a challenge.
