Here is what is on my 4600. It only has a single remote.

So here's my question...I just bought a ford series 204 disc harrow with flexo hitch with travel wheels.
One of my tractors a ford 3000 has a dual acting remote(I think I'm saying it right) with a supply and return will work this because the cylinder has a supply and return hose. My 4600 is on my other farm, only has this single hose. What do I need or is there a kit to make this a two hose remote on my 4600?

Thanks for your time.
Joe

What you are showing in the pictures is an Auxilliary Services Valve which only functions as single-acting. The best solution is to install a single- or double-spool remote control valve to operate the double-acting lift cylinder for the transport wheels of the disc.

Is this what I need?

http://www.ytmag.com/store/parts/pics/wm_HV4111.jpg

Hydraulic Valve Kit - Kit assembly, includes 1-spool valve with handle. For 2000, 2600, 3000, 3600, 4000, 4600, 5000, 500, 5600, 600, 6600, 700, 800, 900. (Part No: HV4111)

If so is this something I can just take off the Aux service valve and bolt this one on? Or is it something I need to take to a mechanic?

Thanks,
Joe

You can also operate the disc cylinder single acting by rigging a vent plug on the "down " side of the cylinder. You can then power the cylinder to lift the disk and let gravity power it down, but then the the wheels will float on the ground with the disk. Otherwise you'll have to put a double acting remote on the tractor.

I don't think I would want to do that would I if I want to control my disc depth also by setting the wheels to a certain depth for the disc?

Am I understanding what your saying?

The wheels would just kinda free float along the top when the cylinder isn't activated and in travel mode when it is?

Thanks

Yes that's what I meant. I not much of a farmer and I don't have a wheel carry disc. When I disc anything on our ranch I set the full weight of disc on the ground. I never herd of using the wheels on a wheel disc to carry part of the disc weigh when you are discing. Of course, as I said, I'm not a farmer.
I use a 3 pt disc. If I set the disc in the position mode I could possibly fix the depth of the disc but why would I want to do that? I thought discing was an all or nothing deal. You don't set discing depth. Am I out to lunch?

When planting food plots and such you can broadcast your peas and beans and set the disc to about 3/4"-1" just to get your coverage of your seed. Works out pretty well.

I use a chain harrow to cover seed. The disc is basically a primary tillage tool to prepare ths soil. What ever works for you, though. A chain harrow is probably much cheaper than adding a hydraulic remote, but the remote will make your tractor more useful for other purposes.

the power beyond plate will go under that sa diverter remote.

or you could simply use a basic da valve plugged into that diverter, and then run the return hose back tot he sump via the pipe plug 'level check' connection on the axle trumpet.. a cheap da valve is about 80$ at tsc.

or you can get the spendy 400$ ( 200 used ) oe style remote valve that goes on the lift cover in place of that diverter.

all are viable options.

generic open center da spool and a spare hose and fitting.. etc are the cheapest route at probably 120$ for the valve and the extra hosing and connectors, and the return hose to the sump at the rear axle.
