Ford 4500 backhoe

I have a problem with my shuttle transmission engaging intermittently, tractor goes for a little while and then will stop. Might back up , might not. Reving the engine doesnt seem to help, I have changed the oil and filter. Any ideas would be appreciated.

Hard to diagnose specifi problem, but most likely will need to reseal/rebuild shuttle on transmission. You can check the transmission pressure through a test port under an access cover under the bell housing. Should be about 220 psi. Shifting the shuttle forward and reverse with the main box in neutral will help pinpoint the problem. Most likely a worn seal or bad input shaft.
