- Ford 4000 SelectOspeed Gas 4 Cyl. 1963
Hello To Everyone,
I have the ford selectospeed 1964 model gas 4 cylinder. My problem is the lift arms will not go down and the handle for the lift arms is almost all the way down except for a couple of inches from the bottom of the selector. Now I will tell you that everything is rusted bad under the cover plate under the seat. I have sprayed and sprayed WD-40 almost a whole can to loosen everything up, I have rocked the shifter back and forth a 100 times to try and get it down. We have put long extension bars on the lift arms and tried pushing them down while I was hitting the top of the lift arms with a sledge hammer and no budge at all. I have released all the pressure to everything. I have the draft control in the down position as far as it will go, I think it only moves about a inch or two and that's it. I have the cover below the seat loosened all the bolts out and cannot get the cover off because the lift arms are up. Can anybody tell me if the lift arm handle is nearly down and I take another loader and put down pressure on the liftarms if I can hurt anything. Another words is there any metal moving parts holding the lift arm up by the handle or is it held up by pressure to the piston. If I take the excavator shovel and put down pressure I might be able to get it down and remove the cover to make the repairs to the rust problem, otherwise I have no idea how to get that cover off without hurting anything. Can anyone help with any suggestions? Thanks for all the help here.
