Ford 4000 donation????

Aquired this 8sp. tranny and rearend over the weekend. It's been through a couple of floods - in the process of powerwashing I found the Ford donation plate. Obviously, the diesel engine is missing and it must have been mounted on a stand at one time. The pto shaft housing is broken and beat up around it which could have happened when it was removed from the stand. Interior of the tranny is in oil and very clean. I drained about 8 gal. of water and 7gal. of oil out of the rear end. Does anyone know anything of these donation tractors? Were the all on stands or did they donate complete tractors.
Serial No. on the bell housing block *263889*.
What am I going to do with it now?? Parts for the 2 4000's I own? Wife thinks I loco - bringing home more stuff!!!

You could find a tractor with the Select-O-Speed transmission that no one wants for cheap and make a reliable tractor out of it...

Powertrain components were given to vocational institutions for educational purposes. They are productions units with no degradation associated with the educational donation. It is still good stuff to put into use as a replacement component.

I graduated HS in '74, in '72 we got a new Vocational Agriculture Building, had been using a condemned elementary school.

We had one of these teaching tractors. A simple 2x4 frame low on pallets.
By the time i graduated it was on the floor. No teaching occurred.

1 maybe 2 years ago i saw one of these for sale 4000.00 w motor.
But too far to think about.

Those are great tractors.
They are brand new.
I have owned parts or complete tractors from 5 of those now.
Both my 4000 and 3000 are built from those.
