I have a 3600 and just finished a motor oil change. I used Rotella. I am also going to drain the rear end fluid and the middle which i believe to be the transmission. I was wondering if the rear end and transmission call for the same fluid? I bought 7 gallons of traveler universal Trans/Hydraulic from tractor supply. Im also wondering when the filter needs to be changed..... during the rear end or the middle? I know that's probably a dumb question. The past couple of days I have searched the intranet with subpar results. I have a operators book and and a repair book on the way but I think i can handle this one with help from yall.

I know I am probably going to have to buy more fluid.

OK.... please dont make fun but I have loosened the round slotted bolt near the right side foot step (mistaking it for the fluid check bolt) to a point where it will not thread back in... How do I go about setting it back?

The oil you bought is good for the rear axle/ hydraulics and your transmission. Your hydraulics have a suction screen and return filter with a bypass, neither can be serviced without removing the lift cover. Neither is typically serviced unless hydraulic system symptoms demand it. The screw you removed attaches the return filter tubing to the inside of the rear axle housing. You will not be able to reinstall it without removing the lift cover so you can position the tube and captive nut.

Thanks for the reply. After I lift the cover is there any sort of maintenance I should do since I’m in there? Should i replace or clean the screen? I also have a spin on hydraulic filter on the left hand side of the engine beside the oil filter.

I know I will have to replace the gasket for the cover. Is there any rings I should replace?

I mistook your 3600 for a 3000. You won’t have an internal screen. You can change the return filter if you wish, most folks do not and with your external suction screen doing the heavy lifting I would probably leave the return filter be. There will be three o rings, one in a recess just below the top cover and two on a jumper tube. All will be near the right front corner of the lift cover.

Wondering where I can find part numbers for the gasket and rings? I have my shop Manual and operators book but it does not list part numbers.

I am so glad I wasn't the only one that took out this screw. It's doable, but it's a pain in the butt. I had to pull the top cover off to do it.

Been awhile but i finally got around to fixing this. I ended up taking the round plate off the left side. 4 bolts and I was able to see what the screw was attached to.
