I have a mid-60s Ford 3500 with a bad rear rim (corroded). It is a 6 loop and the tire size is 16.9-24. I need to know if when looking for a replacement rim is the rim size the same as the tire size or, what is the correct size rim? The center disc of the rim is in good condition and can be re-used. Also need to know the best place in the western part of the country to look for this replacement.

You need to measure the width of your rims to be sure. Conventional wisdom would tell us your rims are 14" or 15" wide, but there are thousands of Ford 3 cylinder tractors factory fitted with 16.9x24's on 12" rims. 12x24 6 loop rims are commonly available in the aftermarket, 14's and 15's are not. Measure from bead seat to bead seat across the inside of the rim. If the tire is still mounted, the overall width of a 12" rim will be 13+-" from flange to flange.

Thanks. I will measure once the tire is dismounted.

$145 is an average price for that rim. Shop around locally, you should be able to beat the shipping down, possibly to zero.

Last post by OP is a year old; bet he found a rim by now.
