ford 3000 hydraulic pump question

Wanted to see if anyone could answer a question I have related to the hydraulic piston pump on a ford 3000 (1965). It started when I went to prime the pump and loosened the priming plug (part 37 on the picture) per the manual. When I did so I had a spring fall. I took the pump apart and the spring that had fallen out was one of parts #42. On the diagram it shows the bearing (43) sitting on the spring (42) with a pin (41) to ensure the bearing stays in the slot all housed within a cage (40).

A few of the cages were bent but the thing that was bizarre is that a few of the pins were missing and the few remaining seemed to be part of the housing (36). I could not remove them. The holes that didn't have pins had no slot for any pins to slide into. Anybody understand why this is? The manual seems to make it show as six identical setups in the cylinders. This is all on the outlet side of the pump. The pump was working before but was a little low on power lifting with the 3pt, but then again the lift cylinder didn't have rings on it (it does now). It seems that without the pins the springs will fall out or the bearings would get pushed too far down.

Any thoughts? I attached a picture of the housing (36) showing where the pins were and were not.

The pins need to all be there. The missing pins are broken off flush with the housing. Time for a new pump head and rebuild kit.

Looked after your comment and it appears the replacement housing comes with the pins already in it. That makes a ton of sense. Thanks for your help and I wonder how they got broke off. Probably never know.

Not uncommon for those pumps to have pins broken off and an appearance of no hole in the head where the pin goes. If you are handy with a welder and don't want to spend the $100 or so for a new head (C7NN893C aftermarket/Ebay) is to back drill where the pin was with a smaller diameter bit and punch it out. Weld the drilled hole out and install a new pin (Groove Dowel Pin 3/16 x 7/8, which are available on Ebay or split pins will also work).
You will also need the rebuild kit for that pump which comes with new springs, balls, cages and gaskets, but no pins (CKPN600A on Ebay). Just an option, and it does work fine if done well.

Thanks for your help. Got a new housing with pins ordered for about $90. Ordered the rebuild kit too. Can't wait to get it done and to start painting.
