I tried asking this in the New Holland section but no results so I'll try here. When I first got this tractor I changed the small diameter pipe (guessing that's return) and the hydraulic fluid. The bigger diameter pipe (pressure side?) Filter didn't look too dirty but it did look like someone had tried to take a wrench to it and get it off. It had been working great, up quick and smooth. Now it hardly ever wants to lift. It will start to lift but if I raise rpms it stops. Sometimes if I lower the rpms it still start raising again. I was just using it and it wouldn't raise so I shut the engine off checked my fluid level, started back up and it lifted quick. Then I went to raise it again with rpms up and nothing. Please help.

your feed or intake to the pump is large line and the small is pressure. It sounds as if your intake screen is blocked or you are sucking air.

Yea as mangled as it looked I went ahead and ordered an intake line from tractor Joe.

Well I changed the intake filter, it works better but if I run it wide open then it wants to stop lifting. I did notice a leak coming from the lift cover where there is a metal pin. When I took the lift cover off there's about 7/16 pin that's hollow with o rings on both ends. Not sure what that is but it looks important. I took it out of its slot and it was bent a little. Also this time I took the lift cover off I didn't need to use the car jack under arms trick. I just lifted it with my arms. I'm guessing that means there wasn't any pressure behind it if that's how it works, I dunno.

I have a service manual on order, I'm guessing it will show the name of the part that's bent? Would y'all also recommend a top cover repair kit?

Anyone have any suggestions? I just tried to use it with same problems. Won't lift with full rpms. Sometimes it will lift a load, sometimes it will stop once it tries to lift a load. Can the top cover suck air or is there any pressure behind it? What common things suck air in a hydraulic system? I checked my lines and there are no cracks. Nothing leaking at the pump.

Just realized something that might be the culprit I dunno. I had a leak coming from the pressure line to the pump a few weeks ago. When I fixed it I unscrewed the pump mounting bolts to get a better grip on it. After I fixed I turned the engine on and oil shot out from the mounting holes. I'm wondering if I damaged the gasket in the process. It's not leaking from there but I dunno just a thought. Kinda feel like I'm talking to myself in here. Ha-ha.

It still sounds as if the pump isn't getting oil or sucking air from somewhere. Did you find out if there is a screen in the sump that you can clean? I don't know much about the fords so that I can give you ideals where to look for the screen.

Yes the intake filter is a screen mesh type but I replaced it with a new one. I really thought that was the problem but it's not

I also took the test port plug off to make sure there was oil there and when the oil came out, it was milky again after a new oil change
