Hi All, I have a Ford 2600 with a FEL and it just doesn't seem to have that much strength. Not even enough to lift the front tires off the ground. The fluid level is good and the hydo filter has been replaced. The FEL will very slowly drop (same with the 3pt) so there seems to be some bypass somewhere.

I've only had it for about 6 months now. So I have no idea when the last time the hydro fluid was replaced. I could replace the fluid but I don't suspect that will correct the problem.

Any ideas on where I should start with troubleshooting? I would like to try to fix it myself. My guess would be the hydro pump but just figured I'd ask. Any info would be appriciated!

SIR,
i suggest you check the simple things first.
do you have a pressure gage? if so, check
the pressure. if it is not up to what it should be,
it could be the relief valve, this can be adjusted.
if you cannot adjust it, then look for something
more serious. if you have to buy a gage, try to get
one that is oil filled, and has enough pressure above
what you are going to check for.
good luck.

You don't give us much to go on... What's the loader pressure supplied by.. the tractor onboard engine mounted pump? a stinger pump? and aux belt driven pump.. etc.

If the laoder is off a stinger pump.. then the fact that the 3pt also drops will be unrelated as they are on different systems ( 3pt dropping can be relief or bad lift piston ring. )

I agree with the other advice... pressure test the system... 3000 psi gauges are good for most tractor applications as you usually don't see over 2500 psi in these applications..

You changed the filter. Did you clean or replace the suction screen???

Thanks for the replies. The loader runs off the aux. hydro svcs. There's a valve under the seat to switch control from the 3 pt to the svcs.

I don't have a pressure gauge. I have a friend that works for bobcat, I'll see if I can borrow one.

I'll check the relief valve, I totally forgot about that! I don't recall seeing anything about a suction screen in the manual. It did mention two filters but that seemed to be for the larger models. I'll take another look for it.
