Hello everyone, newbie here, great site with alot of info! I am looking at a 89 2120 with 1 remote, fel (7109) qa bucket, 1900 hrs, 4wd, loaded rears. Just serviced. Dealers asking 12000. I really am into the 2120s but dealer said this unit had a subframe bh on it.

Questios:

1) is the fact that the unit had bh mounted on it a deal breaker?

2) the clutch makes me nervous, he has no service records but says machine has been gone through and all is ok. Whats the best way to test (hss). Whats the life span of the clutches?

3) is there any difference in the early models vs the later nh models?

4) anything im not thinking of i should check? This my first, ive ran cuts at work but never owned.

Idk if it makes a difference in price but im in NE
Thanks guys!

Hi Pjames, I am also new to this forum, and I don't have a Ford so I am not sure how much help I can be, however I work with a guy that pretty much says that a 2120 is the cats meow.I don't think he has one but he does a lot of research and reading on forums so I would guess they are pretty nice.

Thanks dave your friend sounds pretty smart. My boss is kind of a weird fanatic with yanmars and always tries to push them down peoples throats when u talk tractors, then again hes the same way about chevys and smells funny...go figure. Thanks though

the 2120 is a tried and true model, plenty of power and well built, i prefer the earlier ones like the one you are looking at,12k seems like enough money but they often bring good money

Yes, the 2120 will fit under an 8' door, by a few inches. Mine has the 7109 loader, and while it lifts OK (not great) and is VERY sturdy, it does not curl back much, so the struck capacity is irrelevant. Mine has the Ford QA, a proprietary design, and that may be the reason for the tip back. In the photo, the bucket is back as far as it goes. image-4264897753.jpg
I use a Fisher 7'-6 snowplow on the loader, fabbed from a pickup mount, and it doesn't phase the loader frame at all.
You'll like the 2120, assuming it's been taken care of. The power reverser is handy for snowplowing and loader work, and you don't have to keep your foot on a hydro pedal. I like mine a lot.

Thanks for the info. I plan on snow removal too, does 7'6 plow push the front of the tractor around much?

Not much. I keep a sturdy 66" Gannon box blade on the back for pushing in reverse all winter, and the balance is good

Hi pjames i also work with a guy who loves these old ford tractors but has yet to buy one. Really makes me question his obsession. In my opinion though if you plan on plowing with the loader be careful because the loader arms are not very solid you are better off with a back blade. Well good luck.

Yup not much curl when the loaders down. Almost looks like u would have trouble loosing material when going down hill. Tractor paint looks good though is that an old pic
