I have a old Ford tractor in the garage and it is either a early 2000 or 4000 Ford diesel. It would be the smaller older tractors (like the size of the 800 Fords}. It has a 4000 decal on it and has been repainted and stickered. The lady I am fixing it for said her dad had it painted and stickers put on it but was not sure if it was actually a 4000. So first question is there a easy way to tell by looking at it what model it is? Second it has not been ran for 10 to 15 years and there is no battery. Is there anyway to tell if it is 6 or 12 volt? it has a generator and not a alternator. I know that the gas tractors had a 6 volt system and believe they were negative ground?
