Sort of a long post, awhile back posted about not starting after shutting off and trying to restart, would not till cooled down. Please hold this thought. Fooling around with it yesterday would not turn over, battery at 11.25v. Battery has been disconnected. Re connect battery, With the key out/off the glow plug light is lit. Watching volt meter on battery it is draining quick. Take battery out and put on charger for a few hours. Disconnected glow plug timer at the connector. Start tractor and wire going to glow plugs still sort of warm, but light on dash is now out. Alternator doesn稚 seem to be charging battery, don稚 see any voltage increase with volt meter. Read a post from back in 2012 and if I understood it, the timer just lights the dash, even disconnected voltage still goes to glow plugs? Ran for 10 min, thought a diesel would run without a battery, apparently not, as it quit when I took neg. terminal off battery. Took dash apart and took key switch out. The plastic connector from the key to the harness was melted. I have a wiring diagram, but not color coded. Cut connector apart to get to wires. On the harness side the red wire was burned and the red/white burned, insulation burned thru. I can cut/replace make new connections for the burned wires, no problem. The help part, why? Did this happen. Fuse are all good. Sure would have though damage like this would have blown a 10v fuse. Have now disconnected the wire that goes to the glow plug bar. Any ideas where the burnt wires go? All wires on key switch still seem to be good.
