Hi Everyone,

Just wanted to take a minute to introduce myself. I have a 1981 Ford 1900 with the 771 FEL and around 1200hrs on the clock. My grandpa is the original owner - it was "cared for" but not necessarily well taken care of. Every time I work on it, I find something rigged up. It was at least parked under a shed most of the time. So far I have installed a repair kit on one FEL bucket cylinder, rebuilt the fuel injectors, sandblasted the wheels and replaced all 4 tubes & tires. As you'll see in the pic, I'm not done painting things yet.

I plan to do all fluids and filters, will be searching for past advice and may occasionally seek help! A few definite problems - the "stuck PTO clutch" and what seems to be too much blowby. I know he has always used automotive oil.

Talk to you soon,

Joe

I think you will like the 1900. There are many still in use. No frills, but they get work done. Wheel weights will do wonders for you.

Good looking tractor, mine is still in use with only 677hrs on it.

I'm going to research wheel weights for mine too. About due for new rear tires on mine as well. I replaced the fronts a year ago. We didn't go with tubes on those to save a few bucks and installation troubles and so far it is good.

Front end weight, when the loader is off, is also a huge help on the 1900. I used old New Holland suitcase weights from a skid steer on mine and they fit fine. The 1900 is a great tractor. Get an owner's manual so you can do the maintenance correctly.

I've had mine for 2 years now. I have weights on both the front end and rear wheels. The only thing I really use the tractor for is cutting my 3 acre pasture and discing the garden. I have a 5ft Rollins bush hog. I know the tractor is technically big enough for a 5ft cutter but 2 front weights don't do much to keep the front end steady.
