Hi. I noticed my engine oil was dropping quite quickly (about 1-2 quarts/hour!) and it wasnt burning/ engine was good- even compression was great. Couldn't figure out where my engine oil was going ! Until I saw it coming out of the transmission shifters!!

Somehow my engine oil is getting to my transmission. My clutch is working fine and normal etc, so its not slipping from being saturated with oil.... and there is no oil that drips out of the drain plug with the cotter pin in it... so how can it get to my transmission? I am not sure if its the main seal if the clutch is good... that was my first thought!

Can it be leaking into my hydraulic pump (which I think is at the front of the engine?) and somehow getting pumped into the system. MY transmission when I removed the filler cap.... was full of engine oil that has found its way into there- A year ago I did the hydraulic transmission fluid and the levels were great at that time- - so how so much oil from my engine has transferred into my Gearbox/3 point hydraulics is a mystery to me and I would really appreciate anyones help

Other than this issue- it runs great

Thank you for help

Jon

The pump is the only way it can get in there. We've had a 1900 since 1980 or 81, I can't remember exactly. Check the hard lines from front to rear also. May be just an o ring or little gasket.

The transfer of engine oil is through the hydraulic pump seal mounted on the engine. New seals and Speedi-sleeve will fix it. The online book doesn't show it, but I may have the seal size I can look up and share. If not, remove the seals as carefully as you can (take the pump face off of the pump is easiest) and match by number or size. It is metric. Also, measure the shaft for Speedi-sleeve size and obtain at bearing shop.

SBA340490151 seal is replaced by pump seal kit SBA340490151 which includes this seal. However, it runs about $190.
I don’t have the dimensions of the seal, but take the old one out, get the dimensions and have a bearing shop or online source match.
Again, a Speedi-sleeve will probably be needed to fill the groove left in the shaft by the old seal. Sometimes it is possible to install the seal at a different depth to where it rides on a good spot on the shaft.
