Ford 1720 rear hydraulics How to

Hello everyone I just purchased a 1989 1720 with 1100 hrs yeah.Now I would like to add rear hydraulics for a log splitter and a corn planter/w one way cylinder.The tractor doesn't have any rear hyd but it does have a fel with what I think is pb joystick.What do I need and where do I get it for the best price?Thanks in advance for help.

if you have this valve you can get a power beyond plug for it that is probably the by the book way, when I added a set of remotes to the rear of my 1910 all I did is cut the pressure line from the pump and run it into the valve then back int fel valve this works as long as the valve of your implement is open center...., and you have to plug the two qcs together if you arent running any thing its very important or you will dead head the pump. good luck with your ford , I paid 7500 for mine and promplty had to have two tranny gears made and installed 1600.00.

p.s if you cant find a power beyond plug I was told by my buddy @ hydro shop to drill out the plug that is in the hole and weld in a pipe coupler I dont know if that works though I know the way I did it works fine

Thanks for the reply,I'm new to hydraulics.Doesn't a normally open valve pass fluid except when directed to the implement?I can't figure out exactly what your pics are of ?Fel valve?I hope my 1720 doesn't need any repairs in the near future it only has 1100 hrs on it.

Good Morning Big10,

I have a 1995 Ford 1620 so there may be some similarities. My tractor was plumbed for a backhoe, which would be similar to hooking up the logsplitter. I recently added additional rear remotes. You can follow that thread here.

My FEL is used as the PowerBeyond source. Pictures 1&2 show the underside of my FEL valve. The black rubber hose is the PB Line. Does your tractor have a hydraulic manifold low on the right side in front of the control pedals? (Picture 3) If so, the plumbing is probably similar to the 1620. My tractor was plumbed so that either the 3pt or the backhoe was powered, but not both at the same time. When the backhoe was disconnected the PB line was plugged into the hydraulic manifold to power the 3pt.

The return line for the Backhoe is plumbed in just above the rear axle on the right side (Pictures 4&5)

Search the forums here for terms such as "Power Beyond" and "Rear Remotes" and you will find a wealth of information. I read just about every thread before I tackled my project.

Another thing you can do is get a Tesco rear remote kit from your New Holland dealer, which is what I did for my 1710. It is expensive but comes complete with everything

. I got the single spool which is all I need. But I can use my FEL, 3pt, and rear remote all at the same time. When I don't have the rear remote hooked to anything and the outlets plugged, everything still works fine with the open center valve.
