I have a 1989 Ford 1720. I've been fighting glow plug and instrument panel light issues. I fixed the panel light issues after finding mice had eaten through 5 wires under the instrument panel. I thought this would also solve my glow plug issue but even after repairs (instrument panel lights now work), I'm still not getting power to the glow plugs rail when I turn the ignition switch counter clockwise (heater mode), and the heater indicator on the panel does not light.
Having the panels off I decided to take a look at the ignition switch, thinking it might be the problem of no power going to the glow plugs. When I took off the ignition switch the whole assembly seemed to just fall apart (no screw in the side to hold it together with the base with all the wires). Also I managed to lose 1 of the 3 springs (pic here)
. I have 2 questions: 1)Any suggestions on where I could get one of these springs without buying the whole assembly or where I could get an assembly for a good price? 2) Would a bad ignition switch cause power to not go to the glow plugs when I turn the key counter clockwise? I really appreciate any advice.
