I have the 1710, with the 3 cylinder, 1.4L Shibaura H843 engine, with a spun rod bearing, and a cracked cylinder head. Engine has new injector pump and timing gears. I am not finding parts to repair it, (gasket set, rings, bearings, cylined head). Does anyone know of a source? Are the engines available in Japan? Can they be imported? or is there another engine that could be retrofitted in place of the Shibaura? I have a Kubota 3 cylinder that I may try to fit in it (my winter project) Any insight is appreciated.

The New Holland TC35 uses the Shibaura N843L engine that is a longer stroke version of the N843. How similar the engine block might be to your H843 engine is anyone's guess, but I would think it would be closer than any Kubota engine.

Did you damage the crankshaft Journal any? Scott1700 has done same type of repair on 2 cyl 1700. He sent me a few emails during his work and shared some repair pics. I know he complained the parts were a bit pricey but was able to find them. You may want to send him a note and ask where he bought parts. I don't know if he regularly visits TBN. link below is his post after he finished his repair work. Scott1700 is his handle I believe.

Good luck on the parts search. I know of a 1400 that has a broken crankshaft and I have been looking for parts for months. These tractors are low priced but if repairs are needed they are not such a bargain. About a year ago everything was available but the new stock is no longer available. With the four wheel drive incorporated into the frame ( front axle ) a retofit may be difficult.

Parts for the 1710 are readily available for that engine Go to partspring. com and look at the parts book they have online and you can find all the parts you need and the prices. You can make up your list get total price, payfor it ander all right on that site. Their prices almost always lower than anyone else.

Your safest bet and best-bang-for-the-dollar, with such extensive damage is to replace the long-block. Shibaura and Perkins have merged and have a new plant in Georgia, but no one that I can find has knowledge of retrofits...
When I asked why not, the common response was that the demand for retrofits hasn't been large enough to make the effort cost effective. Since time is also money, most folks just cave-in, fork out the big bucks, and replace the block / long block / or engine with an OEM replacement.

I have a Ford 1000 with the Shibaura LE892 engine.
The pistons are siezed. I have soaked it in Mystery oil for several days now. Tried a couple of pops with a dowel and mallet. Dont get to move but a fraction.

Going to start the tear down soon. Any parts supplier here in the Central Valley of California that anyone knows about?

Garton Tractor, Kuckenbecker Tractor and Berchtold Equipment, depending on what part of the valley you're talking about.

Update...Thanks everyone. Had to tear it down and pound out the pistons after finding a blown head gasket. Head is going to the shop. One piston has a couple sections of broken lands. Looking for a new one. Will have everything looked over at the machine shop. Keep you posted.

hi I am in the same boat. I have a Ransommes ct333 with a Shibaura N843 3 cyl engine seized that I ran without oil after a period sitting up... Any ideas how to get a replacement engine or parts either for retrofit? I am at a loss and thinking of just scrapping her at this stage!based in Ireland.

This may be an old response but I think there is a new and improved solution to a stuck engine that won't break free. The cure used to be Marvel Mystery oil and let it soak for a couple weeks. Now, it's Kroil Oil and let it soak.

You can try to move the engine different ways. A socket and bar on the on the crankshaft bolt, compressed air in the cylinder, etc. Once it moves even a little bit, just keep at it .

Kroil Oil seems to do something special if left alone for a while and you keep nibbling at moving it. Just an FYI
