Has anyone out there attempted to add power steering to a Ford 1700?
I saw an old thread from 2007 asking as well, but it didn't appear to go anywhere.
Just curious what the recommended specs might be for the steering valve, cylinder, etc.
And would it be best to hang a belt driven automotive steering pump off of the engine, or use the tractor hydraulics?
Have my eye on an affordable steering valve with power beyond, rated at 5 gpm, so it would be max'd out with the tractor's 5.3 gpm output.
Would I ruin it with 5.3 gpm (let's pretend the 30 year old pump is still strong as ever for argument's sake) ??
Thanks
