Anyone here ever had their (3pt) lift control spool valve apart? After replacing my 3pt lift cylinder seal and then redoing the seals in the hydraulic pump to no avail, the only place left to turn was the lift control.
Just for reference the 3pt had worked although it would leak down. I was moving a log and went to lift and it flat out died, nothing. Lift cylinder seal came out in pieces basically so I was fairly confident that was the issue. Didn’t fix it, so after messing with it I pulled the hydraulic pump and redid the seals which seemed fine and also didn’t fix the issue.
I pulled the lift control valve and found that moisture intrusion (it sat for years) had frozen up the top valve. Being that it had previously worked I don’t think that was causing the issue but still not good. I found a plastic ring on the one valve was cracked, maybe causing the issue? Fortunately that’s a part that’s source-able, albeit for $20.
My biggest curiosity was the middle valve/spool assembly. The diagram on CNH shows a metal sleeve/body basically with what’s listed as a bypass spool, spring and plug within. Mine however, has none of those 3 parts. Obviously worked previously without that, there is a plate on the end so no way parts could have gotten lost.
For $100 I found the spool and spring, can’t find the plug. Also doesn’t appear that it’s been disassembled previously or they did a good job so maybe it didn’t have it? If I could find out what this plug really looks like I could see if something would work. I’m assuming that freeing up the frozen valve and getting the right parts would help.
I’m about to just part the thing out except I’ve fixed enough stuff and gotten it running well I’d lose more money. At this point I don’t plan on buying a new valve for $600 though. I’ll cut my losses and get something easier to work with before that.
