Ford 1520 pto shaft

An unusual question: Is the PTO shaft end cross bored so as to add a pin-on type extender/adapter? My tractor is about two hours away and in preparation for my next trip to camp I was deciding on a type of adapter to make up for the added length for the Pat's quick hitch. Thanks

Not clear with your question, "bored" to me means a hole drilled or machined to a piece of metal. The PTO shaft has splined. No hole is bored at the end or across. it is machined that an spring loaded button keeps the implement pto shaft from sliding out. I think simplest way to extend would be to get an external over running clutch that would have no negative effect on the operation of PTO.

I do not believe the PTO on a Ford tractor is cross bored for a pin, you'd have to check for sure. You can purchase an over run clutch as suggested, get a shaft extension, or see if your existing PTO shaft is long enough by determining the amount of overlap on the sections. Of course you could also purchase the inner and outer PTO tubes and rebuild your existing shaft as I just did after I damaged the old one.

Gentlemen, thanks for the replies. You confirmed my best recollection as to the shaft not having the cross bore and I wanted to have the extension, adapter or O/R clutch with me when I travel back to my camp. Some of the pin on extensions are a little longer than the adapters with the spring loaded lock pin and I was hoping to get about six extra inches to make up for a shaft that is just marginally long enough for my sickle mower.
