Ford 1510 Overheating Blowing White Smoke

I have a Ford 1510 that will start and run for 5 minutes before overheating and blowing white smoke. After it cools down it will repeat the process.

Any ideas on what my issue with the tractor is and how to remedy it?

Have you checked the level of your antifreeze? If it's down, you could have a blown head gasket.

Your problem may be as simple as a stuck thermostat or as ugly as a cracked head or block. In between is a possible blown head gasket. I'd start with cheap and simple and go for the thermostat. After that a compression test will give you a better idea of where you're at.

If head gasket is damaged due to overheating, allowing coolant to get in to combustion chamber then white smoke is tell tale sign. Check to see if you see evidence of coolant in oil or droplets of oil in the coolant by removing the cap off and inspect. make sure tractor is off and cold.

Install a Pressure gage to the radiator then start it. If it quickly builds PSI then you have a blown head gasket .

Thanks for all the feedback. So far I have changed all fluids and filters, as well as flushed the radiator, installed a new thermostat (old one was stuck) and a new radiator cap. This stopped all the white smoke and it runs great with no white smoke.

However when I run a 5’ bush hog behind it after about 30 minutes it will start to spit coolant.

Is the bush hog just too big for the tractor or am I missing something else?
