Ford 1510 ingition

Getting ready to replace ingition on my 1980s model ford 1510 was wondering if anybody has done this replacement.Trying to get a idea before I tear into to it.Thanks

Do you mean the ignition cylinder on the steering column?

Yes where the key goes it not really on column but on dash area.

I'm guessing finding the part it the hardest part of the job. I haven't done one but it should be pretty easy I would think. Hopefully someone else can chime in that has.

If you are going to get "OEM" type replacement part it should pretty much plug & play.... IF going DIY.... Lots to think about as there are a lot of unknows about what all ignition switch does.... Best to have wiring diagram on hand and being familiar with it before handling any tools....

IF this is your switch, it should be a piece of cake, only 5 (maybe) terminals to deal with.... Disconnect battery (+) before starting... Tag each wire if you can not do one for one (1 at a time) swap per position... Biggest nightmare may be getting access to switch...

Yeah that is the one I ordered,was not sure if it had room to get out without removing dash or fuel tank.I think I going to wait till tomorrow when it is warmer to try it.

Took fuel tank out everything look easy now!

Yep done probably only a hour job but it was cold and my frist time doing it so took longer .The fuel tank is easy to remove ,one nut on each side,behind fuel tank there is a plate that has two screws on each side.After doing that unscrew ignition cover on operator side ,switch out each wire one at a time and done.
