I'm currently looking at buying a ford 1500 with loader and scraper. The onwer not sure of the price yet. But let me use the tractor for a few days. It only has about 175 hrs on it. So what do folks think it might be worth? And the only problem I am having with it so far is how to get the front axle in gear? I have push every lever put it in all gears and everything else. I have asked the owner but she has no clue, it was her hubbies and he is not in the pic. any more. So does anyone know how to put this thing in 4x4?

Its been 25 years since I used a 1500 so I might be a little foggy but I thought the 4wd lever was on the transmission housing in front of the seat.
175 hours, wow. If its been stored inside it should be like new. I saw a 1500 in good shape with 400 hours and the asking price was $3500. I don't know if that is a good price

Does the lever that I "think" is the 4x4 move? If it moves and doesn't engage something has come loose or broke. If you haven't already, try engaging it when the tractor is moving. One of our Fords took some effert to get it into 4x4.

As of the moment, there's only one Ford 1500 on Tractorhouse and it's a two drive model going for $3360, but it looks to be in cherry condition.

As for the four wheel drive on it, are you absolutely certain that it's NOT going into 4x4 mode on that tractor? The best way to know for sure is to jack the tractor up on blocks and run it at idle speed in 1st gear (low range). See if the front tires are rotating. If not, try working the lever, with the tires up in the air it will take all the binding off of the gears etc. That might help it slip into gear, if that is the problem. Good luck!

You do realize that those hours are wrong???? There is no way a tractor that old has that few hours on it.
That would be like a 1970's car with only 4,000 miles on it. Just not believable.
If it is in perfect condition, no paint worn off the pedals yet, well then maybe, but you have to wonder then how the seals and all are, as it musta been parked for years.

It's entirely possible.. I have a 55 ford with 5xx originaly hours on it.. it was a 1 owner tractor before I got it...

I figure the least it has is 175 hrs. ad the most is the meter rolled over plus the 175 hrs. which is probably more the case.

If the meter on this 1500 has 4 digits, then there's no way it's rolled over once and still looks/runs as nice as it does now. That would be 10,174 hours!! If it just has 3 digits, then it's very possible it could have 1174 actual hours on it. Do you even know for sure if the meter is working or not? If it has a 1/10 digit for minutes, then you could run it for about 10 or 20 minutes to see if really is working.
If it is working, then it's still possible that the 175 hours are correct.
