My 1983 Ford 1200 (4 x 4, 2 cylinder model) has a front-end loader and a counterweight on the rear 3-point linkage. With the quadrant control in the locked upper position (continuous pumping), the Hydraulic arms, which used to stay up, now keep dropping. When the bucket control lever is pulled to raise the bucket, first of all the counter-weight has to lift, making the operation quite time consuming.
The only way around this is to have the valve (tap, actually) on the remote outlet that supplies the bucket control spool valves nearly closed, so that the pressure relief valve is "just" starting to open. This puts unnecessary strain on the not-very-powerful engine.
As I said, this problem did not exist before, and I was wondering what component in the hydraulic system is not doing it's job now, and how do I fix it?
