Ford 1110 diesel
My Ford 1110 diesel will go into gear when clutch is depressed, but tractor will barely move when clutch is released. I have tried adjusting the clutch with the nut and screw, but nothing seems to work. It seems like the pressure plate may be stuck. I noticed that when I was plowing snow, when I hit the bank with the plow, the wheels wouldn't spin. The tractor would just sit there with no power to move. When I put it in reverse, it couldn't back up even with the throttle at full. I finally limped it back to it's parking spot. I tried to move it again today and got the same results. Goes into gear, but when clutch is released and gas is given, it barely moves at all. Any ideas to what's going on? I did bring it to a shop last winter to have the clutch replaced. They said it was out of adjustment and it had half of it's life left. Well I plowed snow once, and it won't get out of it's own way now.

Welcome to TBN!

Only can say that it sounds like the clutch is done.
It was nice that the shop ‘saved’ you money, but it sounds like they didn’t do you any favors

That's about what I thought as well. I had it all ready to go with cash in hand to be fixed, and got the old, "It's good to go" story. I swear since Covid hit you can't find anybody who wants to do work any longer! I took my pickup to 3 different shops for a fuel pump replacement and all 3 turned me down. I did it myself with a buddy in the driveway. I also needed my transfer case replaced and I also went to 4 different shops before someone agreed to do the job! I even supplied the replacement transfer case. Thanks for the reply!

That is probably why my work has picked up.
Is it because the younger generation is less experienced or lazy?

When we bought our used travel trailer, it was pretty weathered on one side, but it had not seen much highway time. I took it to a tire shop, cash in hand to get an opinion on the tires telling them that it sat I'm So. Calif. Sun.
They inspected and said they were fine. First trip, 700 miles from home, I was setting up when I saw a large bubble on the sidewall. Deployed awning, next to a beautiful river and proceeded to change the tire. Not a bad scenario, but still, not the thing to do on a trip.
When we left the campsite a couple of days later, we headed to a tire shop and bought two new tires. Somewhere after that, I replaced the other two.
Nothing like trying to be prepared, but sometimes no one can predict the future. It's sad though when you have the time and money, that you get bad advice.
