Has anyone with an RV replaced their standard 12 V inside lighting/bulbs with LED'S.. If so, can you provide any info as to what is needed to convert to led bulbs....

I believe the bulbs 12 V standard bulbs are # 1156 automotive bulbs??

The standard 12 V bulbs put off a fair amount of heat when left on..

I haven't and my new rv came factory with led. But I did consider changing out on the old one. There is a website superbrightleds.com or something similar to that that has a section on led bulbs that should be a direct fit.

Check at your discount store, was at Wal-mart looking for tail light replacement (1157) and seen they have LED replacements for a lot of the older styles, they were a few dollars more.

I installed something similar to these 2X 12V 4W Car 5050 SMD RGB 36 LED Light Panel Festoon Dome Map Interior Bulbs | eBay in all of the lights in our Jayco. It made the interior much brighter, cooler, and not that we dry camp, but also pull much less power. Only issue I had was the double sided tape I used to install them didn't stick. I went to my buddy that owns a body shop and got some good 2 sided tape and haven't had an issue since. They have now been installed at least 2 years. They will come with adapters that will allow you to plug them in directly in place of the old incandescent bulb. One thing to be careful with, we went with the cool white, which is what we like, but they aren't exactly the same color. Most aren't too bad, but if you have a fixture that has two bulbs, you will want to make sure you get two panels that are pretty close to the same color.

I hang out on the Airstream forums.
Folks there are saying good things about LEDs. Less heat, whiter light and they use much less energy for the same amount of light. That's good news if you do much boondocking.

Added led lights couple of years ago. Ordered from Amazon under $2.00 a piece they came with three different adapters,. I got the bright white, which really brighten up the trailer. We camp off grid with solar so adding the LEDs,really cut down on heat and battery use. Have not had any problems so far except the tape doesn't stick very good .
