....I can't find an old fashion light bulb socket/rubber boot/harness (as shown below) in local auto stores. Is there a place I can order from? I'd like to repair my YM2K's headlights.

If a Yanmar dealer doesn't have it, try a motorcycle shop. Japanese motorcycle bulbs work in Yanmars.

Good thought Norm, I tried but no dice. There's got to be a better way than buying whole headlights, this has now become personal!! Even the JD dealer found that the item is NLA (no longer available). But I did buy a couple of 850 keys as spares, hope they work....

Don't know about the bulb socket but I kinda like the 12 string sitting behind it in the last picture.

Set up a perpetual search (Yanmar headlight) on ebay. Sooner or later someone will part out an old Yanmar.

I was incredibly lucky. I needed replacement headlights (due to loader use, the headlights were bashed) and got both complete assemblies from an ebay auction - outer lens, shell, bulbs, mounts, wiring, everything, for about $20 delivered.

I've read that Yamaha skimobiles used the same headlight assembly (it would have been a '70's model) so you might check that also.

Have you tried Hoye,Fredricks, Len , or some of the other parts guys?

Oh yea, but they will only sell me the whole headlight. Where as all I need is this one harness piece.

I'll locate one, it's just a matter of time and luck.

Thanks,

Over in another thread, Mark777 noted that a lot of parts are shared with the tractors that Yanmar built for Deere. You might take that to a Deere dealer. Or it might be easier to find a Deere salvage yard.
