If you read my background, you will see my admission that I'm a Cincinnati area native and therefore fan of the Bengals. Grew up with them and quite honestly, can't just turn my back on them to root for ...say the 49'ers....(ack, cough, sputter...... horror stories of Joe Montana still get me /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif )
Anyway, a rather nice story on their website web page and I think the name of the story is "A note from a fan".
Upshot, a recently acquired player opened a letter and a newspaper article fell out, along with a "buisness card" from a police officer. Seems when he was a baby, he was choking on a hotdog. 911 was called, a cop showed up, saved the baby and kept that in his memory (along with newspaper article).
Baby grew up, went on to play college football & the cop kept watching his "success story" of a saved life continue his life. now, he get's picked up by Bengals (whom the officer has season tickets).
The officer sent the 20 year old article to the new Bengal player and the player NOW has "the rest of the story". Seems he never knew all the details of his life being saved. he knew about the doctor that "saved" him, but not about the officer that gave him CPR, mouth to mouth in the back of the squad car while in route from house to the Dr's office.
It's a nice "human" story more so than football.
